DESIGN EXPERIENCE The company employees have been engaged in waste management projects since 1971 when we finished first design of landfill in Poreč. We conducted waste management studies and recycling projects following this design project
List of some of our waste management serivces: The company employees developed number of waste management projects. We completed projects in Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia . We designed and implemented several new landfill, we developed recycling process in Zagreb , Osijek and Bjelovar and finished remediation of number pf landfills
One of very few landfills in Croatia developed in accordance to EU regulation at the time was landfill Doline in Bjelovar. We obtained all necessary permits and the entire project was developed and implemented by IPZ employees
Primary recycling in Zagreb, Osijek and Bjelovar has been developed for number of years, and recycling in Zagreb was developed in 1988. under our leadership.
We developed feasibility study for Private-Public Partnership for regional landfill in Eastern Slavonia (cca 500,000 people) in order to develop new way of waste management.
We developed complete Waste management system for Koprivnica-Križevci county and Dubrovnik county. We developed Study of existing state of waste management system in Croatia for Ministry of environmental protection in 1995 and 2002.
We developed Registry of polluted soil for Splitsko-Dalmatinska and Dubrovnik County , as well as Waste management plan. Our employees are working as consultants on waste management plan in Karlovac and Krapinsko-zagorska county. We also developed plans for Osječko-Baranjska and Vukovarsko-Srijemska County. WASTE MANAGEMENT PLANS
We develop waste management plans for counties, cities and municipalities. These services include: detailed analysis of existing waste generation with determination of waste quantity and content, development of waste management, management of special type of waste, development of list pf existing landfills and determination of state and capacity of landfills, and review of existing state of waste management. We develop future development of waste management system and location of landfills based on factors determined above. Our client's lists include small municipalities and large counties.
One of our most challenging projects was Determination of existing state of waste management in Croatia with list of existing landfills and review of state of these landfills.
We develop complete waste-management system in commercial enterprises, and we would like to mention Splitsko-Dalmatinska and Dubrovnik County as well as Zagreb Airport.
CHOICE OF LOCATION STUDY AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESMENT
We undertook number of choice of location studies both in Croatia and abroad with very different characteristics. The studies were developed in most efficient way designed by IPZ experts using positive and negative maps as well as specifics characteristics of Croatia as determined by experts from different fields. Geology, hydrogeology, groundwater, air, work technology, socio-economic factor, transport analysis and zoning laws were considered. The studies are developed both in the field and in the office, and the development includes contact with local population and authorities. The environmental impact assessment (EIA) study is conducted after location is chosen and exploratory work performed. EIA includes public involvement. The study is integral part of location permit
The most important studies were conducted for areas with population from 40000 to 500000 for cities of Bjelovar, Pula , Rovinj, Western Slavonia (Brodsko-posavska County) and Eastern Slavonia (Osječko-baranjska and Vukovarsko-Srijemska County).
TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION- PROJECTS AND DESIGN
We develop all types of project documentation from conceptual design to main and implementation projects, but also we provide services in obtaining location and construction permits and investor consulting. We perform studies for the permits but we can also obtain them. The projects range from very simple one to very sophisticated. We design bottom (foundation), drainage, static's stability, facilities and traffic solution. We are also involved in sewage, operation technology with choice of equipment, operation and monitoring of landfill with acceptance and control of waste projects and solutions.
Our most important technical documentation projects for obtaining permits are landfills in Bjelovar, Požega, Karlovac, Šibenik, Umag, Krapina and Dubrovnik.
LANDFILL REMEDIATION We developed a number of projects. They range from simple cover with final layer to complicated excavation and moving of landfill to another location. We offer complete services package that includes exploratory research works, waste testing, air and water testing, and finally supervision of remediation. The work includes the choice of best remediation technique and it can range from landfill closing to remediation with continued work long time after remediation
We performed number of remediation in Croatia and abroad and most important ones are in Osijek, Bjelovar, Dubrovnik, Pula, Orahovica and Buzet.
WASTE COLLECTION AND TRANSPORT (TRANSFER STATIONS)
The studies include transport analysis with formation of transfer stations. The separate studies are conducted to analyze waste collection with transport equipment optimization. The special software is developed for equipment optimization during Eureka project. The design routes were conducted for small cities (Zabok) all the way to Zagreb.
RECYCLING AND OTHER PROJECTS The reduction in quantity of waste and recycling is one of priorities in modern world. Our experience in recycling dates back in 1988 when we started recycling in Zagreb . We designed recycling in Osijek based on this experience. The planning of recycling study and implementation plan is closely connected to exploratory research work on waste content, so the components that are separated can be determined. The pilot projects are on the way in Zagreb on collection of biodecomposed waste and composting in own yard. Our work includes study and implementation, recycling yard, sorting plant design, composting and pricing of certain elements of the system.
Our most important projects except Zagreb and Osijek is recycling program in Bjelovar with pricing determination.
HAZARDOUS WASTE (INFECTIVE WASTE)
The hazardous waste management projects were developed in cooperation with firm APO. The project of hospital waste management started in 1988 when we conducted review of existing state of hospital waste in city of Zagreb. After that we conducted study on hospital waste management in Zagreb. We conducted several EIA for hospital waste incineration plant, and our most important studies are for hospital in Vinkovci and hospital Dubrava in Zagreb
We organized complete waste management for hospital waste for US military hospital on Pleso from 1993. to 1995.
EXPLORATORY/ RESEARCH WORK
We conduct exploratory works by ourselves or in cooperation with firms authorized to do works necessary in waste management system or necessary in development of technical documentation. We are specialized for waste sorting (determination of waste content) and determination of waste quantity. We also conduct determination of techniques and place of waste sampling, while analysis of water, air and geomechanical research is done in cooperation with authorized firms.
Our most important studies include determination of waste quantities in Zagreb ( year 1991-2000) and determination of waste quantity in Croatia in 1995. and 2001. (for Ministry of environmental protection). The important sorting studies include in Velika Gorica (all 4 seasons), Pula and Dubrovnik (winter and summer), and Pag and Orahovica with determination of waste quantity. We also examined and sorted old waste in Pula, Samobor, Zagreb and Sarajevo.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
This segment is among moat important in whole system, and requires experience and knowledge, because the best location can be ruined by bad leadership and work. After local population is turned against the project it is hard to regain confidence. This includes cooperation with media (TV, radio), newspaper interviews, development of brochures and education (workshop, kindergarten etc).
INVESTMENT CONSULTING, TENDERS, SUPERVISION The design and project works also includes investor consulting with preparation of tender documentation. The development steps are: tender, the choice of best offer and contract draft. During construction, and as needed after construction of landfill, the supervision can be performed on construction, operation technology or design supervision
The most important supervision work were supervision on landfill in Bjelovar, Osijek, Požega and Otočac.
WATER USAGE PERMIT
We develop studies and complete documentation for water used in production process or water with changing properties
Our most important work for usage permit was EL-TO in Zagreb, and for wastewater, Gredelj, ELTO, Čistoća and landfill in Bjelovar.
RULES AND PLANS
We develop all types of rules and plans. We developed Operating plans in environmental protection and for hazardous materials in accordance with law. Our main work include Cargo train station in Zagreb and train stations Osijek , Rijeka , Vinkovci and municipal waste company Čistoća Zagreb.
We develop Rules on operation and pretreatment of waste and sewage water, Operating plan of activities in case of sudden pollution, Rules on management of waste from technological process of wastewater treatment with deadlines for implementation. All these rules were developed for different municipal and production companies.
