REMEDIATION OF WAR LANDFILL "FILIPOVICA" - CITY OF OSIJEK

SUMMARY

Problem of waste management in Osijek was present for some time, and the full brunt of the problem could be felt at the beginning of the war. War was the main reason for non-implementation of plan projects. The official landfill Nemetin was occupied by Serbian forces so it could be used, so war landfill was used in abounded brick storage in southwest part of the city. The main objective of this paper is to show remediation of uncontrolled war landfill Filipovica. The paper discusses research/exploratory work and remediation. The remediation already started and should be finished in next 6 months.
