LONČARICA LANDFILL IN OSIJEK

SUMMARY

The problem of final disposal of waste in present in all cities in Croatia. City of Osijek is no exception to that. The main reason is that official landfill was situated on occupied territory during the war. The waste is temporarily disposed on “Lončarica” landfill and City is intensively working to take all measures in order to maximize use of this location and to prevent any environmental problems. After finding permanent solution, the landfill will be remediated and closed. The construction of temporary landfill, as well as proper management, remains important for the City till the permanent solution is found. If landfill would close early, the waste would be dumped in different illegal locations around City.
