SUMMARY

Collection of waste in City of Bjelovar is one of city priorities, and generated and collected waste needs to be removed under the control from places it might endanger environment, and these are primarily residential areas. The study of existing sate of waste management was undertaken and compared to past 10 years. The solution of the problem is based on collection of waste from household and disposal on landfill “Doline”. The positive trend in waste management started in 1981. and continued in 1988. with beginning of construction of modern waste landfill in accordance with EU regulations. The measurements of waste quantity and determination of waste content was performed from time to time during these activities. This paper gives data on vehicles and equipment for waste transport, the system of waste collection. The past data were also given for comparison.
