SUMMARY

This paper estimates the quantity of municipal and nonhazardous waste in Croatia in 2001, and compares situation to 1995. The paper is based on estimates of waste management from studies and design documentation developed for cities, municipalities and counties in 2000 and 2001, data received from Ministry of Environmental Protection as well as data received from other sources. The review of existing laws and regulation is given and quantity and content of waste by counties and for entire country are also given. The list of “official landfills” is given. The conclusion compares situation with 1995.
