SUMMARY

The growth in waste quantities , especially in developed countries , and the serious problem of lack of space for new landfills , resulted on decisions on EU and on national levels of majority of countries to do the deviate from the practices of waste disposal towards other methods . One of the methods is thermal treatment which enables the disposal of large quantities of material of different structure and also the exploitation its energetic value in the form of heat or electricity . Today the thermal treatment of waste includes procedures which results in an acceptable level of solid rest and acceptable emission of gases . Thermal treatment is increasing and according to research results of Juniper Consultancy Services LTD pyrolysis procedures increase part on the market of all thermal treatment technologies . The reasons for the market growth of pyrolysis technologies lie mainly in the negative image of incineration and perceptions that new technologies are more responsible with regard to environmental impact and that they generate more stable kinds of secondary waste suitable for recycling . In the plant for the thermal treatment of waste Herbos pyrolysis technology has been used.
